CREATIVE WORKSHOPS ON KAUAʻI
Hands-on mural, art and healing, and lettering workshops for schools, nonprofits and businesses, led by muralist TRYS of Inspire To Create Media. Every session is built around one goal: people leave having made something, and believing they can make more.
THE PART THAT OUTLASTS THE PAINT
A mural gives a place a story. A workshop gives people the tools to tell their own. Inspire To Create Media workshops put brushes, markers and spray cans in people's hands, so a group leaves with new skills, a finished piece, and the confidence that comes from making something real together.
The studio's own path started this way. In 2013, a senior mural project at Kauaʻi High put TRYS on a wall beside working muralists who showed him how it was done. Workshops pass that on, especially to Kauaʻi youth who have not yet seen art as a path.
WHERE THE WORK HAS GONE

The Portal with COGS
A 2024 mural painting workshop with COGS, the Cognition Learning Center, at Kauaʻi Community College. Students helped TRYS paint The Portal, a glowing forest gateway on large panels, learning how a mural moves from sketch to finished piece.
iPad art workshops
A 2025 series of iPad art workshops with Hōʻike, Kauaʻi's community television station, teaching digital drawing and design on the same tools the studio uses to sketch every wall.
FOUR WAYS TO WORK TOGETHER
Community paint day
Students, staff or neighbors help bring a mural to life, filling base colors under the artist's direction while the detail work stays with the studio. The wall becomes something the community owns, not just something it walks past.
Art and healing
Guided sessions that use drawing and painting to talk about mental health, resilience and belonging. Built on the healing-centered approach behind walls like You Matter, and a fit for conferences, health events and youth programs.
Youth mural mentorship
A hands-on look at how a mural happens: idea, sketch, grid, color and paint. For schools and youth groups, often paired with a real wall so students see their work go up in public.
Digital art and lettering
iPad drawing, hand lettering and design sessions for students, community groups and teams. Participants learn the same digital tools the studio uses to sketch every wall, and leave with a piece they made.
FROM FIRST CALL TO FINISHED PIECE
Start with the goal
A short call about the group, their ages, and what the session should leave behind: a skill, a conversation, a finished panel or a wall.
Shape the session
The studio builds the plan around the group's size, time and space, with every step written for beginners.
Make it together
TRYS leads the session on site, with materials set up and ready, so the group spends its time creating.
Something to keep
Every workshop ends with work people can take home, hang up or point to, which is what keeps the lesson alive.
BUILT FOR THE GROUP IN FRONT OF IT
Schools and youth programs
Classes, clubs and after-school programs, from a single session to a series alongside a school mural.
Nonprofits and events
Conferences, health and wellness events, and community gatherings that want people creating, not just listening.
Businesses and resorts
Team days, staff retreats and guest experiences rooted in Kauaʻi and its stories.
ONE PRICE PER SESSION
Each workshop is quoted as one price per session, shaped by group size, length and what participants take home, with materials listed separately so it is clear where the budget goes. Grants and sponsors often cover workshops for schools and nonprofits. See how to fund a community project in Hawaiʻi and the current Hawaiʻi art calls and grants.
A workshop before a mural gathers the community's ideas for the design. A paint day during it gives people a hand in the finished wall. Both can be planned into one mural proposal.
FREQUENTLY ASKED
Does anyone need art experience?
No. Sessions are designed for beginners, and every step is shown before anyone picks up a brush.
Are materials included?
Yes. The studio brings and sets up everything the session needs, listed as a separate line in the quote.
Where do workshops take place?
On site, anywhere on Kauaʻi: classrooms, offices, event spaces or outdoors at the wall. Workshops on other islands can be arranged.
How large can a group be?
Sessions are sized to the space and the goal. Larger groups can rotate through in smaller sessions so everyone gets hands-on time.
