You Matter, Leadership Kauaʻi
A "You Matter" panel for the Leadership Kauaʻi Class of 2025, painted to connect island youth and families with mental health support.
WHY THIS WALL
In 2025, the Leadership Kauaʻi Class of 2025 took on youth mental health and substance abuse as its community project, with one goal: make sure individuals and families on Kauaʻi know where to find support. Inspire To Create Media joined as a partner alongside Hale ʻŌpio Kauaʻi, Grateful Works and StoryBook Theatre, and Trysen painted the project's centerpiece.
"You Matter" is lettered in white script across a Kauaʻi sunset. Light breaks through the clouds over the ridgeline, kalo leaves fill the foreground, and waves roll onto the shore. A QR code set into the painting connects anyone who stops to look with the island's mental health resources.
The panel stands on its own, so the message can travel to wherever the class and its partners bring it. It carries the same idea as Fishing for Hope: art that tells people help is close, in a place they already love.
